I was raised by my parents (Howard and Maria) who cultivated a confident man by enforcing values of hard work, bold action, steadfast faith, and love of God, family, and even those who are against me.
The only time I spent living outside of my hometown of Rochester was when I was proudly served in the United States Army as a Signals Intel Analyst. My job was to report intelligence findings to commanders. Within 3 years I rose to the rank of E-5 sergeant and was the noncommissioned officer in charge of my platoon. During my platoon’s deployment out of Fort Bliss, Texas, I wrote multiple standard operating procedures, improving the efficiency, quality and uniformity of our work.
This helped prepare me for the tough task of preparing and examining political legislation that comes across my City Council desk.
I have worked with:
*City of Rochester Mayor Bill Johnson - revamping the Nuissance Abatement Points System
*Veterans Outreach Center and Ruck for Roc - raising food and funds for Veterans homeless shelter
*Junior Achievement - financial literacy for youth
*Champions of Change - helped them raise over $10,000 for their homeless holiday party
*Vice-President of Charlotte Community Association
*City of Rochester's Nuissance Abatement System Board representing the NW
*organized the community for my #37challenge in 2018 where we raised enough money for 225 pumpkins for inner city school, 43 turkeys for an inner city church that fed the needy, and adopted over 37 families to give Christmas gifts to Hillside and Catholic Family Center families in need
*La Cumbre - Latino political outreach, focused on voter registration
*Team leader for multiple Clean Sweeps
*Active longtime member of the Northwest District Democrats group
I have been in the finance arena since 2012. I am a Community Loan Officer, where I help make dreams of homeownership come true by helping to get the financing together for a home purchase.
I find this financial expertise to be extremely important on City Council when dealing with Rochester's finances and multi million dollar budgets.
